Learn more:

Thanks for your interest in learning more about placenta encapsulation and how it can help you bounce back after your pregnancy and childbirth. Below you will find ALL of the information, including how to sign up.

WHY PLACENTA ENCAPSULATION:

When you're pregnant, the placenta takes over the production of vital hormones, nutrients and vitamins in your body to stabilize you and baby. When the placenta leaves your body, all those hormones, nutrients and vitamins leave with the placenta. And that's why you're likely to experience a hormonal crash right after birth, because you're left with zero hormones. It takes about 6-12 weeks for your body to produce a significant amount of hormones again. Instead of throwing away those hormones, vitamins, nutrients and stem cells. We turn your placenta into capsules so you can put them right back in your system when you need them the most.

Step 1:

Fill out the registration form on our website with your details and submit initial payment. Once submitted, check your email for a scheduling confirmation email (can take 1 hour to 24 hours to receive scheduling confirmation email).

Step 2:

Ensure that your midwife, birthing team and/or family are aware that you wish to keep your placenta and note this in your birth plan. Some women like discuss their plan to keep their placenta during prenatal appointments, but it’s not completely necessary. The day you deliver your baby, before you go into labor simply let your nurses know that you'll be keeping your placenta and that you've made arrangements for someone to come pick it up after delivery. You do not have to ask for permission to keep your placenta. IT IS YOUR ORGAN!

Step 3:

We can collect your placenta from your home or the hospital. When you book we will ask for your due date to have an estimated placenta pick up date for you. We understand that due dates are not 100% accurate. Our placenta pick up hours are Monday-Sunday 9 am to 6 pm. UNLESS your hospital has a specific time frame in which the placenta needs to be picked up.
If you can, let us know when you’re about to go into labor and once again when your placenta is ready for pick up. You can text, email, or call us.

Step 4:

While you wait for us to pick up your placenta, please not that your placenta may be kept at room temperature for 3-4 hours following your birth. After 4 hours it needs to be in a sealed container or ziplock bag, and it needs to be chilled at 30-40 degrees (hospitals will provide their own containers/biohazard bags and ice for your placenta). Some hospitals will keep your placenta in a fridge until we pick it up, if that is the case make sure the hospital labels the container with a note that says "DO NOT TAKE-PATIENT IS TAKING HOME." The placenta can remain the fridge for up to 3 days. After that, the placenta must be stored in a freezer.  We do recommend bringing your own cooler with you to the hospital so your placenta does not leave your room to reduce chances of your placenta being misplaced or being taken away.

Step 5:

You will be notified once we have possession of your placenta and once again when your capsules are ready. Your capsules will be ready within 48-72 hours after your placenta was picked up. Remaining balance will be due before we deliver your capsules to your home.

THE ENCAPSULATION PROCESS:

Your placenta will be handled and encapsulated according to OSHA bloodborne pathogens universal precautions and Food Safety and Handling standards. Your placenta will be cleaned, steamed, dehydrated and put into capsule form in our sanitary and disinfected lab based workstation. We only ever process one placenta at a time, each placenta is labeled throughout the whole encapsulation process. At Peace of Mommy Encapsulation, we specialize in placenta encapsulation using The Steamed method of preparation. This method is designed to eliminate any potential bacteria, including group B strep. The process involves seasoning the placenta with lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and ginger. The placenta is then steamed by subjecting the placenta to temperatures higher than 140 degrees F. Once Steamed the placenta is cut into pieces and dehydrated for 12-24 hours, we then grind the placenta into fine powder and place it into vegan unflavored gelatine capsules. Depending on the size and density of the placenta, our service typically yields 110-200 capsules, ensuring that new mothers have a substantial supply of placenta pills to support their postpartum recovery.
